Pathfinder is a K-12 tutoring app. We take children's privacy seriously. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Parents and guardians must create and manage accounts for children under 13.

When you create an account, we collect:
When you create student profiles (parents only), we collect the student's name and grade level. We do not collect dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, or government identification numbers.
We store the content of tutoring sessions — the questions students ask and the AI's responses — so you can review past sessions and track progress. This data is stored in your account and is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Important: Tutoring session messages are transmitted to Anthropic's Claude AI service to generate responses. Please see Section 4 (Third-Party Processors) for details.
We collect product usage events (such as "session started" or "subject selected"), through our analytics provider (PostHog), to understand how the app is used and improve it. These events are associated with your account so we can understand the experience over time, but they do not include the content of tutoring sessions.
We collect crash reports and error logs through our error monitoring service (Sentry) to diagnose and fix bugs. These may include device type, OS version, and the state of the app at the time of a crash, but do not include session content.

Pathfinder is designed for use by K-12 students, and we take our obligations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) seriously.
We retain your account data and session history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., payment records for tax purposes).

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission (TLS), encrypted storage, and authenticated API access. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Pathfinder after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
